Special sessions

In addition to the contributed sessions, a number of special sessions has been proposed, including bot scientific sessions as well as round-table discussions. These special sessions have been selected. A more detailed description is available here.

Joint Programming Initiative on Climate:  Providing scientific knowledge for the benefit of society
Chair: Silvio Gualdi, Head of the Climate SERVICE division at CMCC-Euro Mediterranean Center on Climate Change.
The session includes presentation of JPI Climate as well as a discussion on knowledge gaps

Gender, energy and climate change: Advancing research & practice in gender, energy and climate change across and beyond Europe.
Chairs: Susan Buckingham and Ines de Sanchez Madariaga

Rebound effects: New perspectives on a phenomenon known for almost 150 years
Chairs: Martin Soland, Universität Zürich and Anja Peters, Fraunhofer ISI.
The session consists of 5 scientfic presentations

Afromaison: Strategies for integrated natural resources management in Africa in order to adapt to the consequences of climate change.

Workshops on research needs

The last part of the conference will include facilitated topical workshops, where proposals will be formed for future research needs in an open process. Here researchers will discuss how the input from the scientific sessions can be organised, prioritised and worded in order to be used as input to the future work programme of Horizon 2020. Representatives of PEER institutes will lead the writing process after the conference, but workshop participants will be consulted in the process, before the final position papers are delivered to the European Commission by PEER in November 2013.

The conference will begin with an optional welcoming session and early registration in the evening of Wednesday October 2nd. (Venue tbd)

The conference dinner will be held on Thursday October 3rd at 19:30 h. at the venue Turbinehallen, Kalkværksvej 12, Aarhus C.
